It benefits capitalists who are in the business of publishing to promote the noise as real music requires a real genius - a rare enough quantity; whereas one's people are paying for noise it provides for unlimited profit-growth opportunities; there being no scarcity of noise-makers. It also makes people more lonely, or at least those in it that went to a bookshop looking for good literature but only saw overhyped books.
Entertainment, instead of religion, is true opium of masses. Bread and circuses is a cliché for a good reason. Power to masses always turn everything into entertainment - be it books (literature giving into generic stuff), arts (a special mention to movies) sports (with IPLs and cheer girls), politics (Trumps and Modis) etc.
