Worth Killing

 X:“it is the cost you have to pay, a sacrifice you have to make in order to savee your beliefs.

Y:“But they were innocents.”

X:“So they were but you cant help it if belief of many will cost lives of a few.”

Y:“but they didn’t volunteered to do so.”

X:“That’s doesn’t matter.”

Y: (after some thinking)“Tell me something, how many people must believe in something, to make it worthwhile taking life of one unwilling innocent?”

X: “I don’t understand your question?”

Y: (points to a little kid playing in the lawn) “Tell me something, if I was to suddenly start believing in a new God but that kid somehow threatens my belief merely by being there. Would it be okay for me to kill that kid?”

X: “of course not, you could just be excusing yourself. Belief of one person isn’t it enough.”

Y: “but if say ten people were to believe in this new god?”

X: “No, of course not. Still not enough.” 

Y: “If say a hundred people were to believe ,y idea of god, would then ity be okay to kill that kid against his will?”

X: “Of course not.”

Y: “May be a thousand people?”

X: “No.”

Y: “ten thousand? That is enough to start a new religion? Kid’s life is probably nothing for this new religion, right?”

X: (now feeling frustrated)“No. It doesn’t work like that.”

Y: “That kid can’t be killed even if belief of ten thousand people is threatened! You astonish me. What if it was one lakh people?”

X shook his head.

Y: “ten lakh?” (seeing X shake his head again and again) “one crore? Ten crore? A hundred crore? Seven hundred crore? ... why that the whole population of planet!”

X remained silent.

Even if the whole Earth believe in something, it doesn’t make it worthwhile taking life of one unwilling innocent, right?
